Residents of Makkihalli in Sakleshpur taluk are in fear, following rumours of black magic being practised in the village.

Members of two families in the village have complained that stones were thrown on their roofs all through the day. Ramesh, a resident of the village, alleged that members of his family suffered injuries after being hit by stones.

“This has been happening for the last one week. Every 10 minutes, a stone is thrown on our house. We have not been able to find who is responsible,” he said. Following this incident, rumours of ‘black magic’ being practiced have been circulating in the village.

The Hassan district unit of the Bharatiya Jnana Vignana Samiti has urged the district administration to arrest the miscreants behind the act.

“In the past, many such incidents were proved to be acts of miscreants. This is also one such incident,” B.G. Gopala Krishna, district secretary of the samiti, said in a press release here on Sunday.
