Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha M. Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday said that the development of National Highway 150, connecting Bengaluru with Solapur in Maharashtra, will be taken up at a cost of ₹1,400 crore.
After opening two road stretches for public use and laying foundations to new projects at Rajapur locality in the city, he said that the NH, which runs through Hyderabad Karnataka, will contribute to the economic development of the region.
“With Article 371(J) of the Constitution is in force, enough funds are being diverted to the region from various sources for the development. Construction and development of roads, bridges, drains and other infrastructures are visible,” Mr. Kharge said.
“Special budgetary allocation for development of Hyderabad Karnataka region under Artilce 371(J) of the Constitution has been increased from ₹1,000 crore to ₹1,500 this year. It would further accelerate the development in the region,” he said.
Mr. Kharge called upon the people to support the secular political forces that were committed to safeguarding great human values enshrined in Indian Constitution.
Earlier in the day, Mr. Kharge laid foundation stones to various development projects taken up by Kalaburagi Corporation funded by Hyderabad Karnataka Regional Development Board under macro projects.
He asked the civic body authorities to pay attention for enhancing green cover in the city limits by taking up extensive gardening.
