Functional Vocational Training and Research Society (FVTRS) launched ‘Skill Net Karnataka’ for the Kaktri Gram Panchayat at Maheshwari Hall here on Saturday.
It aims to conduct vocational training programmes on strengthening entrepreneurial abilities on viable trades and skills for marginalised communities towards their economic empowerment, said Assistant Labour Commissioner of Belagavi division K.G. Johnson. Inaugurating the programme, he said that the members of economically weaker sections of the society should come forward to take advantage of the programme.
Achieving success
Sadhana Pote, Assistant Director, Employment Exchange, Belagavi division, stressed on that hard work along with innovative ideas, upgrading knowledge, communication skills and a positive attitude would help in achieving success and improve quality of life.
The programme will help the beneficiaries to develop these skills and build self-confidence to create self-employment opportunities. Felix D’Souza, Senior Programme Manager of FVTRS, Bengaluru, highlighted the salient features of the programme and motivated the prospective beneficiaries to join and take advantage of its training programme. FVTRS Manager Jimmy Mathews said the skill net was an innovative and pioneer programme in Karnataka and aimed at youth empowerment.
Platform
FVTRS Director P.M. Philip, who presided over the inaugural function, the skill net was also a platform for the school dropout youths to explore their hidden talents skills.
Felicitation
On the occasion, successful entrepreneurs, who had completed their training in joint association of FVTRS and Belagavi-based Women’s Welfare Society, expressed their views and were felicitated. Belagavi Taluk Panchayat member Kanchan Narvekar, Kakati Gram Panchayat Vice President Anil Narvekar, Panchayat Development Officer H.S. Pol and WWS Hon.SecretaryV.M. Chougala were present.
