Six persons sustained minor injuries when a private bus going from Shivamogga to Udupi, turned around and leaned on a car while trying to avoid hitting a motorcycle near MGM College here on Saturday.

The bus was nearing the V.B. College Junction on the busy Manipal-Udupi Road and the driver had to apply brakes suddenly to avoid hitting a motorcycle which was moving speedily in the same direction.

In the impact, the bus turned around and leaned on a car, which was parked on the road close to a driving school. Six passengers in the private bus sustained minor injuries.

The passengers had a miraculous escape because of the parked car. Had the car not been there, the bus would have fallen on one side and hit a high tension electricity wire pole, which was on the other side of the car.

One section of car got crushed as the bus leaned on it. However there were no occupants in the car. But the woman who owned the car later came and saw the scene, fainted and was admitted to a private hospital in Manipal.

Due to the incidnet, traffic from Manipal to Udupi was disrupted for about 30 minutes. The traffic police had to struggle to clear the traffic.
