A sudden and heavy downpour on Monday evening provided much-needed relief for the residents of Hubballi, who were sweltering under the sun for the past few days.

The downpour, coupled with hailstones in some pockets, lashed the city for over half an hour resulting in overflowing drains and water-logged roads.

However not many were complaining as the showers brought down the mercury level also.

As it rained heavily, motorcyclists were taken off guard and many of them had to park their vehicles by the road side and took shelter under nearby buildings. The downpour left important junctions in the city, like Hosur Circle, Kittur Chennamma Circle and others, water logged for some time forcing the motorcyclists remain off the road for some time.

The showers, however did not please the residents of Dharwad, as it hardly lasted for few minutes.

Although it appeared that it would rain for more time, the showers stopped after a few minutes leaving the residents praying for more.

According to the municipal authorities, barring an incident of a tree uprooting on the premises of Judges Quarters in Hubballi, no other rain-related mishaps were reported. No casualty has been reported.
