A team of Agriculture Department officials headed by C.N. Nandini Kumar, Additional Director of Vigilance Cell and M.S.Diwakar, Joint Director of Vigilance Cell from Belagavi, inspected the stock of fertilizer and seeds stored in Surpur taluk of the district on Monday and issued show-cause notices to Laxmi Venkateshwar Traders, Maruthi Fertilisers and Mallikarjun Krishi Kendra in Surpur town for not maintaining the seeds and fertilizers as per the Insecticide Act 1986.
They have been told to give a reply in a week.
Chetana Patil, Joint Director of the department, who accompanied the team, said, “The retailers were not stocking seeds and were selling them by violating rules.”
