Shivarajkumar comes outagainst dubbing

January 25, 2014 02:02 am | Updated November 16, 2021 06:00 pm IST - BANGALORE:

Actor Shivarajkumar on Friday supported the bandh call given by Kannada Okkoota, an umbrella organisation of pro-Kannada organisations, on Monday. The pro-Kannada outfits have opposed dubbing of other language films and television serials into Kannada. He said that he would participate in a rally that had been planned as it was the question of survival of Kannada language and culture.

Lashing out at director S.V. Rajendra Singh Babu, who has supported the dubbing demand, he said, “I am participating in the rally.” The actor said he would talk to Housing Minister M.H. Ambareesh on the issue.

Speaking on behalf of other artistes, Shivarajkumar said that stars, including Darshan, Sudeep, Ravichandran, Puneeth Rajkumar, Jaggesh and ‘Duniya’ Vijay, would participate.

The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has decided against participating in the bandh for fear of attracting the wrath of the Competition Commission of India.
