The annual seven-day cattle fair, part of the famous car festival of Sharabalingeshwar Swamy Temple, began at the Rastapur village in Shahapur taluk of Yadgir district on Friday.
Thousands of pilgrims from different parts of Yadgir and neighbouring districts participated in the car festival.
Participation
Farmers from Kalaburagi, Vijayapura, Raichur and also neighbouring Maharashtra are participating in the cattle fair.
According sources, the price of a pair of bullocks ranged between Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 1 lakh during the fair. A farmer, Sharanabasava, from a Jewargi taluk village, who bought a pair of cattle for Rs. 50,000, said that he was participating in the cattle fair for the past three years and could not purchase the cattle in the previous year due to high price, but, this year, he could purchase a couple of bullocks at an affordable price.
Equipment
The fair also offered agriculture equipments and other requirements of the farmers.
Arrangements
The temple administration has made all arrangements for fodder, drinking water for the cattle and adequate lighting facility in the area where the cattle fair was being held. Wrestling competitions were also held as part of the festivities.
