The Shivamogga-Bhadravati Urban Development Authority (SBUDA) has prepared a detailed project report (DPR) and technical plan on its project to develop a residential layout in Urgadur locality in the city.
SBUDA has acquired 63 acres in Urgadur with the aim to develop a residential layout on 54 acres and construct residential apartments on the remaining land. N. Ramesh, chairman of SBUDA, said both the DPR and technical plan have been submitted to director of town planning. After they are approved by him, administrative approval from the government will be sought. Work will commence after the final approval, he said.
The proposed layout will have 800 sites. The plan is to develop 30 per cent of the sites in 30x20 ft. dimension, and these will be given to people from low-income groups.
The land was acquired from 55 farmers way back in 1987. But because of some legal problems, SBUDA could take final possession of the land till February 2016. Apart from the monetary compensation, SBUDA had also announced it would provide a 60x40 ft. site for each farmer who had ceded his/her land for the project.
Mr. Ramesh said that all basic amenities, including drinking water, electricity connection, drainage and asphalted roads, would be provided in the layout.
