The State Bank of India donated an ambulance to Sneha Kiran of Mysore Spastic Society and funds for the purchase of a Braille printer to Divya Jyothi Charitable Trust here on Monday.
The keys of the ambulance were handed over by A. Krishna Kumar, Managing Director (National Banking), to society trustees while the cheque for the purchase of the Braille printer was handed over to members of the Divya Jyothi Charitable Trust.
This was part of SBI’s corporate social responsibility activity. The bank recognised both institutions for their yeoman service to the society. SBI said it earmarks one per cent of its profits for CSR, and will spend Rs. 141 crore on such activities during 2012–13 (its net profit has touched Rs. 14,105 crore).
Donations
In a release, SBI added that the entire budget allocated to the Bangalore circle for 2012–13 has been utilised. The bank has donated nine ambulances and five school buses.
It has conducted 24 medical and health awareness camps, sponsored 12 cultural programmes. SBI will also sponsor six sporting events during the T20 World Cup for the blind, which will be held this December.
