‘Sangh Parivar is trying to saffronise the country’

March 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - KALABURAGI/YADGIR:

The Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (Sagar) has charged the BJP-led NDA government of implementing the agenda of the Sangh Parivar to saffronise the country. It said that the blatant attempts to declare Bhagwad Gita as the national holy text and open support to the re-conversion programme launched by the Sangh Parivar organisations would be opposed tooth and nail.

The activists of the DSS led by its State convener D.G. Sagar took out a procession in Kalaburagi on Friday and staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office and submitted a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The DSS in its memorandum said that it was wrong on the part of the Central government to declare Bhagwat Gita as the holy text of the country as it would go against the secular outlook of the country. It also wanted to curb the activities of the organisations like VHP, Bajrang Dal and others who were involved in the Ghar Vapsi programmes.

Our Yadgir Correspondent reports:

Yadgir district unit of the DSS held a similar protest was held in Yadgir and submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.
