Acting on a tip-off, they intercepted a tractor laden with sand in Raminakoppa village. On seeing the police, the driver stopped the vehicle and fled. The sand was extracted from the banks of the Tunga in Basavapura and was being transported to Shivamogga city.

In Anavatti village, the police seized a tractor that was transporting sand from Kuppagadde village to Haveri city. The police said the sand was extracted illegally from the banks of Varada river. A mini-truck that was transporting sand has also been seized on the outskirts of Bejjavalli village in Tirthahalli taluk. Here too, the driver deserted the vehicle and fled.
