As many as eight lakh neo-literates are expected to write basic evaluation examinations across the State on March 15. These neo-literates attended the literacy classes under ‘Sakshar Bharat’ programme.

The evaluation examinations will be held in the jurisdiction of 3,358 Grama Lokshikshan Centres in 104 taluks of 17 districts.

According to Adult Education (Lokshikshan) District Officer Suresh, around 22,000 people in Kolar district are likely to attend these examinations.

Vast publicity drive in order to enrol the neo-literates for the examinations was planned. Drum beating in villages under respective Gram Panchayats is one among them. The Lokshikshan Samiti preraks (motivators) or volunteers have been asked to directly approach the neo literates to create interest in them for attending exams, Mr. Suresh said.

Training

Training was imparted to the school teachers and motivators to prepare themselves for smooth conduct of the examinations.

Participating as the resource person in the training camp held at Methodist School here, Munirathna Shetty urged teachers and motivators to join hands towards realising dream of literate India.
