The Kannada Sahitya Parishat’s State-level general body meeting will be held in Bidar on September 26, central committee president Manu Baligar said on Friday. He was speaking after launching the district KSP unit’s website here.

Various issues like organising the all-India conference, development plans for the next three years and membership development will be discussed at the meeting. There are over three lakh KSP members in the State. But only district-level office-bearers and central executive committee members will be invited to the general body meeting, he said. Mr. Baligar also told district KSP president Suresh Channashetty to choose a location for the Kannada Bhavan in Bidar. “I assure you that I will request Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to donate land for it,” he said. Earlier, KSP members took out a bike rally and procession as to welcome Mr. Baligar to the city.

The website — www.kasapabidar.in — includes a short history of the district with taluk-wise details. It has pictures and details of places of historical and touristic importance. It also has details of writers from the district, with their profiles and book extracts. It also has details of the district KSP office-bearers, with a brief history of the institution and its former leaders.

It was developed by a team led by S. R Sagar, IT engineer from Aurad taluk. Writers Basavaraj Ballur, Raghushankh Bhatambra, Nagashetty Patil and Jagannath Kamalapure have written and edited the articles that have been uploaded on the website.

The district KSP unit also plans to organise a ‘Wikipedia editathon’ to increase the number of Kannada articles on the online encyclopaedia, said Mr. Channashetty.
