Safety measures for motorists

The authorities have emphasised on a few safety measures to be followed by the motorists at unmanned level crossing gates in the interest of their safety.

They have appealed to motorists to switch off the music system, not use mobile phones and remove earphones while approaching a unmanned level crossing gate. ‘’Stop, look and proceed’’ is the safety mantra during the safety rally at the held in the Mysuru-Chamarajanagar section.

In a release, the Mysuru Division has reiterated its resolve to promote safety by improving road surface, provision of mandatory warning boards, construction of speed-breakers, counselling road users (through posters, pamphlets, stickers, etc.), appointment of Gate Mitra at vulnerable unmanned level crossing gates, intensive counselling of staff to ensure elimination of human failures, and safety propagandas in the vicinity of unmanned level crossing gates, among others.
