The Mandya district police, in the past three months, have arrested more than 100 habitual offenders allegedly involved in several criminal cases and recovered from them stolen property estimated at Rs. 4.34 crore.
Of the recovered goods, properties worth Rs. 3.81 crore were returned to the respective owners during the property parade, held at the premises of the office of the Superintendent of Police, here on Wednesday.
Bhushan Gulabrao Borase, Mandya S.P., said that during September to November, several theft, robbery and burglary cases were reported in the district. Offenders had looted properties worth Rs. 10.70 crore at different parts of the district.
The police personnel attached to Mandya, Malavalli, K.R. Pet and Srirangapatna subdivisions have detected a good number of cases and recovered stolen properties including gold ornaments, vehicles, tiger skin, Red Sanders logs, iron and other materials, Mr. Borase said.
One of the important detections was made by the Mandya sub-division police who recovered gold jewellery worth rupees several lakh that was stolen from Srinidhi Golds (a jewellery store) of Bengaluru-Mysuru highway here.
Mr. Borase has appreciated his staff for detecting these cases.
