July 18, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - BELAGAVI:

The Republican Party of India (RPI) has given a call for a nationwide “Mumbai Chalo” to protest against the BJP government in Maharashtra for the attack on the Ambedkarite movement and the demolition of Ambedkar Bhavan at Dadar in central Mumbai.

Announcing this in a press release issued here recently, RPI State president Mahendra Vankale and district president Gopi Ballari said a “Virat rally”, under the leadership of Babasaheb Ambedkar’s grandson Prakash Ambedkar, would be taken out on Tuesday.

He said that a large number of RPI activists and members of several other Dalit organisations would head to Mumbai for the rally.

From Karnataka, activists are expected to go from Belagavi, Kalaburagi, Raichur, Bidar, Dharwad, Bengaluru, Mysuru and Kolar.
