Self praise
Praise always lights up one’s day. And when there is no one willing to hand over praise, especially to politicians, self-praise is always the chosen option.
MLC T.A. Sharavana became the epitome of this habit in a press release issued by him. In the release, that elaborated on the charitable work done by his trust, Mr. Sharavana described himself as a ‘man influenced by noble personalities, a simple, humble, disciplined, service-oriented, peoples’ leader and a good-hearted man’. He even quoted a line from Bhagawad Gita, to project himself as ‘a man who serves without any expectation’.
Poll calendar
There was a lot of speculation over the announcement of polls to the BBMP. Putting an end to this, the State Election Commissioner P.N. Sreenivasachary announced the calendar of events recently. Asked why the polls were scheduled on a Tuesday, he said that SEC had tried different permutations and combinations to arrive at the poll calendar. He said that the SEC had actually drawn up three different calendars before choosing one. “But even I was getting different poll calendars on WhatsApp,” he confessed later much to the amusement of the reporters.
