Rapist sentenced to 10 years imprisonment under POCSO Act

The district court has sentenced a rapist for 10 years of rigorous imprisonment after finding him guilty of rape of a minor.

Principal district and sessions judge Hanchate Sanjiv Kumar, also slapped a fine of Rs 8,000 on Shekhar Bhujange (27) a truck driver.

The accused was arrested by Santhpur police in June last year. Using provisions of the Prevention of children from sexual offences, the police had charged him of raping a minor more than once.

The Judge directed the district legal services authority to pay relief to the victim.
