Rains lash Mandya, bring down temperature

Light rain lashed many parts of the town on Sunday evening bringing much-needed relief from the blazing summer.

According to revenue and police department sources, Subhash Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Vivekananda Road, 100 ft Road, V.V. Road, Rajendra Prasad Road, Pete Beedhi, Bengaluru-Mysuru Road, Hosahalli, Chamundeshwari Layout, Kallahalli and some other areas witnessed rain on Sunday evening.

The district has been experiencing extreme temperatures over the past two months. The much-awaited showers brought down temperatures and but also resulted in unscheduled power cuts in several areas. People and motorists enjoyed the rain at V.V. Road, 100 ft Road and some other roads in the town.

According to reports reaching here, rain also lashed some parts in Srirangapatna, Maddur and Malavalli taluk on between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
