Interspersed with small pauses, rainfall continued to lash the city for the second day on Wednesday. It also disrupted normal life in most parts of Kalaburagi district.
Most roads of the city were hit by showers. Heavy rain was reported in some areas of Aland taluk. The rains started at 5 a.m. on Tuesday and continued till Wednesday evening, leaving most of the areas and road corridors inundated, affecting traffic movement.
According to the Indian Metrological Department, the rainfall recorded till Wednesday 8.30 a.m. in Kalaburagi district stood at 44.60 mm against the normal rainfall of 4.90 mm. While Aland recorded the highest rainfall of 68 mm , Kalaburagi recorded 62.4 mm followed by 49.9 mm recorded in Chittapur taluk, 41.1 mm in Sedam ,36.3 mm in Chincholi, 25.6 mm in Afzalpur and 22.9 mm in Jewargi taluk.
Villages including Hodlur, Lad Mugali and Rudrawadi in Aland taluk received the highest rainfall of 106 mm. Standing crops were submerged in several villages across the district.
