Heavy rain, coupled with high-speed wind, that occurred in Hassan on Sunday evening, left many trees and electricity poles uprooted and vehicles damaged.

Roads in K.R. Puram, Kuvempu Nagar and Housing Board colony were blocked for vehicular movement as several trees had fallen due to high-speed wind. Residents of these localities had no power supply till late Monday afternoon.

A car parked on the fifth cross in K.R. Puram locality was damaged as a tree fell on it. Several two-wheelers parked on the roadside were also damaged as a large number of electricity poles were uprooted and fell on them.

The Hassan City Municipal Council personnel were busy clearing the roads. The CESC employees were trying to restore the power supply since Monday morning.

At least 15 electricity poles had fallen to the ground, leaving many localities without power.
