Minister of State for Primary and Secondary Education Kimmane Rathnakar, who is also in-charge Minister of the district, said the work of assessing the loss suffered by farmers due to rain would be completed shortly. Officials of Revenue, Agriculture, and Horticulture departments have been instructed to assess the loss in an objective manner. The government is committed to paying compensation to all farmers who have suffered a loss, he said after launching the works related to Suvarna Grama project and new building of Government high school in Gajanur village near here on Sunday.
He said the academic standards at Government schools would be uplifted. A total number of 12,000 teachers would be appointed for Government schools on contract basis. Headmasters would be assigned the responsibility of appointing teachers. Headmasters had been directed to appoint local candidates with the necessary qualifications, he said.
Mr. Rathnakar said according to the recent census, Karnataka had 75 per cent literacy rate.
Full literacy
The government would take initiatives to achieve complete literacy in Karnataka and a comprehensive plan would be designed for the purpose, he said.
