M. Mallikarjun Kharge, te former Union Minister and Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha, has expressed concern over the delay on the part of the Railway Minister to clear the proposal for the establishment of a divisional office of South Western Railway in Kalaburagi.

“It is unfortunate that the proposal is hanging fire even after the Railway Board gave its approval and sent it to the Railway Minister for clearance,” he told The Hindu on Sunday .

Discussion

Mr. Kharge said that he had spoken to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu about the issue a couple of days ago and pleaded for his early clearance of the proposal, which would go a long way in the development of railway infrastructure in the Hyderabad Karnataka region.

“Mr. Prabhu has promised that he would take a decision at the earliest…I have told him that the State government had handed over land to the Railways for the purpose,” he said..

Letter

Mr. Kharge said that he had written to the Railway Minister and the Prime Minister on the issue and he would write again to Mr. Prabhu.
