The Vijayapura District Congress Committee is making preparations for the arrival of Congress president Rahul Gandhi who will participate in several events in the district on February 24 and 25.
He is scheduled to participate in a road show in Vijayapura and then address a women’s convention of the party at Tikota village in Bableshwar constituency represented by district in-charge Minister M.B. Patil.
“We are holding a grand event in Tikota where over 50,000 women are expected to participate. Apart from the AICC president, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal, Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha M. Mallikarjun Kharge will address the gathering,” according to Minister Mr. Patil.
Addressing presspersons at Tikota village where preparations are under way, Mr. Patil said that before addressing the event, Mr. Rahul Gandhi would offer bagina to the canal under Tubachi-Bableshwar Lift Irrigation Project. With regard to the project, he said that with a majority of the works being completed now, a trail run would be held on Saturday.
