The Bharatiya Janata Party central leadership on Monday suspended two MPs from Karnataka — the former Chief Minister B. S. Yeddyurappa’s son, B.Y. Raghavendra, and the former Minister C. M. Udasi’s son, Shivakumar Udasi — from the party parliamentary membership for indulging in anti-party activities.
According to a letter by BJP Parliamentary Party Chief Whip Ramesh Bais to these MPs, a copy of which was released to the press, they have been suspended as they were actively campaigning for the Karnataka Janata Paksha of Mr. Yeddyurappa. The letter states that these two MPs were calling upon people during the campaign to defeat the BJP.
It may be noted that the BJP State leadership had recommended to the central leadership to act against these MPs who have associated themselves with the KJP. Mr. Raghavendra represents Shimoga Lok Sabha constituency while Mr. Udasi has been elected from Haveri.
