PU Board in Yadgir set for examination

The Pre-University Board is all set for the examination scheduled to be held from March 9 to March 27 in Yadgir district.

As many as 9,686 students will appear for the examination. Of them, 6,104 are from the Arts stream, 1,680 are from Commerce and 1,902 from Science, Gurlingappa Minasagi, Deputy Director of PU Board in Yadgir has told The Hindu . Around 2,000 are repeaters, he added.

Thirteen examination centres have been set up in the district – one each in Gurmitkal, Hunsagi and Kembhavi, and three each in Shahapur and Surpur and four in Yadgir, Mr. Minasagi said.

The subject-wise dates are as follows: March 9 - Biology and History, March 10 - Electronic Computer Science, March 11 - Education, March 12 - Basic Mathematics, March 13 - Sociology, March 14 - Mathematics, March 15 - Karnataka Music and Hindustani Music, March 16 - Economics and Geology, March 17 - Physics, March 18 - Psychology, March 19 - Chemistry, Optional Kannada and Business Studies, March 21 - Political Science, March 22 - Hindi and Telugu, March 23 - Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam and Arabic, March 23 - Sanskrit, Marathi, Urdu and French, March 25 - Geography, Statistics and Home Science, and March 27 - English.

Closed circuit television cameras have not been put up in the examination halls attached to government college buildings owing to technical reasons. “We ran into technical issues at the last minute that did not allow us to put up CCTV’s in the halls,” Mr. Minsagi said, and added that CCTV cameras had been installed in private college buildings.

Meanwhile, 13 government senior officers of district-level cadres have been appointed as vigilance officers to visit the examination halls to ensure the prevention of malpractices.

Khushboo Goel Chowdhary, Deputy Commissioner, has imposed prohibitory orders within a radius of 200 m from the examination centres to curb untoward incidents. She has also ordered that Xerox centres within a radius of 200 m from the centres remain closed on examination days.

The police has taken all precautions to ensure the smooth flow of events. Sources said that adequate police personnel will be deployed near the centres.
