Provisions of RTE Act misused, says Hassan resident

April 14, 2013 09:45 am | Updated 09:45 am IST - Hassan:

Employees of the Education Department have colluded with private schools to misuse the provisions of the Right to Education Act, alleged Srinivasa H.T., a resident the city.

Many schools have allotted seats under the Act to those who gave wrong information so as to claim seats in private schools, he said at a press conference here on Saturday.

He said that he had obtained information on the selection process under the Right to Information Act.

‘False proofs’

He alleged that many people residing in Holenarasipur taluk and villages in Hassan taluk had claimed seats for their children by providing false address proofs obtained from the Hassan City Municipal Council.

“Employees in the office of the Block Education Officer have not bothered to verify the records,” Mr. Srinivas claimed.

Mr. Srinivas said he would take the matter to the court.
