They condemn ‘failure’ of State govt. to take up development of Hubballi-Dharwad
Members of the Mahila Morcha of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took out a march in Hubballi on Tuesday protesting against what they termed as failure of the State government in taking up development of Hubballi-Dharwad.
A majority of the morcha members wearing black saris gathered at the statue of freedom fighter Sangolli Rayanna at Brindavan Circle and raised slogans against the State government.
Leading the protest, former MLA Seema Masuti and president of Hubballi-Dharwad Mahanagar Zilla unit Nagesh Kalburgi alleged that the government had totally neglected development of the twin cities.
Raising slogans against Chief Minister Siddramaiah and district-in-charge Minister Vinay Kulkarni they alleged that no steps were being taken to facilitate effective implementation of ward-wise development works and even the funds were not being sanctioned properly. They said that although a sum of of Rs. 138 crore towards the pension of HDMC employees was due since several years, the district-in-charge Minister was not making efforts to get it released.
The morcha members then marched to the office of the office of the Hubballi Tahsildar where they submitted a memorandum urging the government and the Governor to take immediate steps to facilitate development of the twin cities.
Former Mayors Radhabhai Safare and Poorna Patil, former councillor Ranga Baddi and others took part in the agitation.
