Superintendent of Police, S.N. Siddaramappa, has said that the district police has solved two theft cases and recovered Rs. 30 lakh in cash from the accused. Addressing press persons here on Saturday, Mr. Siddaramappa said that a theft had taken place in the residence of Mehbubbi Jahagirdar of Bolachikkalaki village of Babaleshwar town on February 21. The thieves had taken away Rs. 25 lakh in cash from the house. The police team, which investigated the case, solved the case by arresting three people, including a minor. The arrested were identified as Lakshman Patil (24) and Suresh Biradar (19) and the minor. “We have recovered Rs. 20 lakh in cash and a motorcycle from the accused,” he said. Mentioning about the second case, Mr. Siddaramappa said that Rs. 20 lakh in cash was stolen from the motorcycle of Bilal Bepari of Vijayapura city on March 16 when he was carrying the cash in his motorcycle from a private bank here.
During the investigation, the police arrested Mohammed Hussain Mulla (35) and recovered Rs. 10 lakh in cash. “We are yet to arrest three more persons involved in the case,” Siddaramappa added. On the occasion, Mr. Siddaramppa flagged off 20 modified and repainted motorcycles for the local police for their daily rounds.
