Police, Excise probationers pass out of police academy

The officers were trained in maintaining law and order, traffic management, map reading, first aid, etc.

After undergoing a gruelling comprehensive training, seven Gazetted Probationers, including three women, and three probationary sub-inspectors (PSI) of the police passed out of the 33rd Gazetted Probationers’ and 38rd PSIs’ passing out parade held at the Karnataka Police Academy here on Monday.

S. Jahnavi passed out as Probationary Deputy Superintendent of Police, while Smitha Rao, R.S. Swapna, G.A. Ajith Kumar, Sanganagoud P. Hosalli, Shivalingappa Banagatti and Motilal passed out as Deputy Superintendents of the Excise Department. Chandrashekar, E.T. Chandrappa and Yallappa L. Shigihalli have passed out as probationary sub-inspectors.

Speaking on the occasion Sushanth Mahapatra, Inspector General of Police (Training), Bangalore, called upon probationary officers to make use of the training given to them in the past one year to discharge their duties sincerely and effectively.

He asked them to make use of the training in a right manner to maintain law and order. Shambu Dayal Meena, Excise Commissioner, told the probationary officers to behave politely with people. He asked them to work hard and be an asset to the nation. The probationary officers were given comprehensive training in maintenance of law and order, traffic management, map reading and plan drawing, first aid, computer science, etc., stated a KPA release.

They were also trained in yoga, surya namaskara, route march, obstacle course, weapon training, crowd control, unarmed combat, equestrian, motor driving and field craft.

S. Jahnavi secured the Home Minister’s cup for rifle shooting and was named best all-rounder while Ajith Kumar won the DG and IGP cup.

A.S. Vishwaroopa, Additional Commissioner of Excise, Bengaluru, and S.L. Rajendra Prasad, Joint Commissioner of Excise, were present at the function.
