Hyderabad Karnataka Yuva Horata Samiti president and Right to Information activist Rajashekar Kulageri has filed a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) seeking reopening of the case filed against officials of the Nirmiti Kendra pertaining to the alleged misappropriation of funds between 2004 to 2009 in Kalaburagi district.

Addressing presspersons on Wednesday, he alleged that the former Lokayukta Y. Bhaskar Rao and Lokayukta Assistant Registrar Anand Despande closed the case to favour senior IAS officers and Nirmiti Kendra officials.

Dr. Kulageri said that an advisory committee was set up to inquire into the alleged substandard work carried out by the Nirmiti Kendra between 2004 and 2009 in Kalaburagi district at a cost of Rs. 200 crore following directions of the then Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde. The advisory committee found prima facie evidence in the complaint and recommended action against the guilty officials. Dr. Kulageri said that the former Lokayukta Shivaraj V. Patil too had directed the committee to continue the probe into the misappropriation of funds in Nirmiti Kendra and take action against the guilty. However, during the tenure of Mr. Bhaskar Rao, the case was closed.
