Pension confusion previous govt’s doing: Minister

October 29, 2014 05:31 pm | Updated May 23, 2016 04:52 pm IST - TUMKUR:

Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs T.B. Jayachandra held the previous government responsible for making it difficult to find out how many people had been denied pension as it had stopped giving social security pensions to the real beneficiaries.

After distributing cheques to beneficiaries in the “pension adalat” program on the premises of Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Wednesday, he said even after conducting three ‘pension adalats’ in Tumkur district, people are still coming with applications for pensions because the officers concerned were not addressing the issue.

He said middlemen should be eliminated which is why the government is conducting pension adalat, revenue adalat and Janaspandana program to facilitate the people to address their problems directly.
