A student who was seriously injured in an accident last year has been struggling for her life, with her parents finding it hard to meet treatment expenses.

Ashwini, a resident of P.C. Extension in Kolar, was studying in final year B.Com. in Government College for Women here.

On November 23, 2013, she met with an accident at Srinivasapur while returning from a friend’s house on a motorbike. She slipped into coma and later

recovered. However, she is still under treatment for spinal cord injury at R.L. Jallappa Hospital at Tamaka on the outskirts of the town.

Her parents, Srinivas and Muniyamma, who are roadside vegetable vendors, are seeking public help for medical treatment.

“We have already spent lakhs of rupees for the treatment and medicines by taking loans,” Ms. Muniyamma told The Hindu .

B.M. Mubarak, president of City Municipal Council, has appealed to the public and student community to contribute generously for her treatment.
