There is fresh evidence that has come to light proving the boorish behaviour of Minister of State for Labour P.T. Parameshwar Naik. It seems that his alleged action of shunting out a woman Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) for not responding to his telephone call is not a one-off case of high-handedness.
What has come to light now is that in 2015, the Minister had allegedly behaved rudely with a police sub-inspector. Bheemanagouda, the then PSI of Tambrahalli police station in Hagari Bommanahalli taluk, has recorded his “humiliating experience” in the Village Crime History (VCH) file. This document is now being circulated, a copy of which is with The Hindu . These two incidents, reported back-to-back, have put the Congress government in an embarrassing situation. Various organisations have been protesting against the Minister, and the opposition BJP has already demanded his resignation.
Bheemanagouda, as recorded in the file, says that while on bandobust duty in Nagalapur village in the taluk on March 14, 2015, Mr. Naik, who is also Minister in-charge of the district, spoke to him very rudely, saying: “Have you become a ‘dada’? I will get you transferred, have you suspended, and have you stripped.” He further states: “My staff and I felt insulted and embarrassed when the Minister spoke very rudely. I did not respond as I did not want to denigrate the post of Minister. However, I drew the attention of Superintendent of Police, Additional SP and DySP, and my immediate superior Circle Inspector of Police. I am recording the humiliating incident so that it could be a reference to my successors and could be of help in initiating legal action in the event of recurrence of such incidents.”
It may be recalled that Mr. Naik, who had initially distanced himself over the transfer of the lady DySP Anupama Shenoy, was caught on video footage boasting to party workers that he had got her transferred. “For me, party workers are important and not officials. I spoke to her over phone for 42 seconds and after that when I tried again, she did not respond. This was the reason why I got her transferred. Why do we need officials who do not listen to the district Minister,” he was heard saying in the video footage.
I am seeking more information from the senior official about the incidents. We hope to get it by tomorrow, and action will be contemplated.
