Vinay Kumar Sorake, Urban Development Minister and Udupi District in-charge Minister, said on Monday, that only Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister G. Parameshwara could decide on withdrawal of the resignation of Anupama Shenoy, who resigned recently as Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kudligi Division, Ballari District.
Ms. Shenoy belongs to Uchila village in Udupi district, which comes under the Kaup Assembly Constituency, represented by Mr. Sorake.
Mr. Sorake said that he was not aware of the background in which Ms. Sheony had tendered her resignation. All he knew was that Ms. Shenoy’s family stayed in Uchila in his constituency. “The government had not acted with haste in accepting her resignation. Ms. Shenoy submitted her resignation when the Home Department was grappling with the strike of police constables. She could have avoided resigning during that period. Even then, efforts were made to persuade her to withdraw her resignation. But she remained firm,” he said.
On why requisite procedures such as issuing summons were not followed while accepting her resignation, Mr. Sorake said that Ms. Shenoy’s resignation during that period appeared as if she was supporting the strike. Hence, it had been accepted, he said.
