Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said he will issue an order to suspend officials who have been raided by the Lokayukta.

He said in the Legislative Council on Thursday that if there was a raid on an official, he or she should be suspended first and dealt with later. Inquiries against such officials should be expedited and punishment should be severe so as to deter others, he said.

Of the 166 officials, including those from the all-India service cadre, on whom the Lokayukta conducted raids in the past two years, two had been convicted. While the Lokayukta advised suspension of all those who had been raided, 56 of the 166 officials had been suspended, he said.
