No respite from heatwave conditions for Hyderabad Karnataka, Bombay Karnataka

There was no respite from severe heatwave conditions for the people of Hyderabad and Bombay Karnataka regions with Kalaburagi recording the State’s highest maximum temperature of 43.4 degrees Celsius as per the observations recorded by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) at 8.30 a.m. on Sunday.

While parts of south Karnataka received some rain, dry weather prevailed in the rest of the State with above normal temperatures being recorded in majority of the north and coastal Karnataka districts. The IMD has also issued a warning that severe heatwave conditions would continue to prevail for the next 48 hours in Kalaburagi, Bagalkot, Bidar, and Vijayapura districts.

Meanwhile, Napoklu in Kodagu district recorded a rainfall of four cm, followed by two cm in Kadur (Chikkamagaluru district) and Halebeedu (Hassan district). Alur in Hassan district recorded one cm rain.

The maximum temperature of 43.4 degrees Celsius recorded by Kalaburagi was three notches higher than the temperature recorded on the same day last year. Bidar recorded a maximum temperature of 43 degrees Celsius, which was five degrees more than what was recorded on the same day last year. Raichur, Vijayapura and Koppal recorded a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius. Chitradurga recorded a maximum temperature of 39.4 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature was high in other parts of Bombay Karnataka region with Dharwad, Gadag and Belagavi Airport recording a maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius and Haveri and Belagavi City recording a maximum temperature of 36 degrees Celsius.

There was no relief for the people of the region in the night also with the minimum temperature remaining very high. Raichur recorded the state’s highest minimum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius, which was a record five degrees more than what was recorded on the same day last year. Kalaburagi recorded a minimum temperature of 29 degrees Celsius, which was four degrees more than the previous year’s temperature recorded on the same day. Bidar recorded a minimum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and Koppal 25 degrees Celsius.
