The government has given additional charge of project director of KSAPS to Ratan U. Kelkar, IAS, who presently holds the charge of mission director of National Health Mission.
According to the notification signed by Under Secretary of Health and Family Welfare S.V. Kalavati on Saturday, the additional charge has been given with immediate effect.
According to the criteria fixed by National Aids Control Programme, for a State like Karnataka with high prevalence of HIV, the project director should be ‘a senior IAS officer with experience as District Collector’. However in Karnataka, a Senior Scale KAS Officer of the 2008 batch was handling the responsibility.
