The High Court of Karnataka on Friday observed that it may have to adopt a new system in the digital era to prevent fabrication of certified copies of its orders or judgments.

Justice B.V. Nagarathna made the oral observation when the court noticed a complaint filed by an advocate, A.L. Prem Kumar, who has pointed out to the court’s Registrar-General that some persons had fabricated an interim order passed by the court in favour of some students studying engineering courses for whom he had appeared before the court during this September. Mr. Kumar has said in the complaint that fabricated order, which also contain forged stamp of the court, was created to mean that the interim order’s benefit was also available to five other students, who were neither represented by him nor any order was passed by the court in their favour along with the petition filed by him.

Observing that an inquiry is required to know who fabricated its order, the court ordered notice to all the students whose name and addresses were found in the fabricated order.
