As part of the preparation for threeday Navaraspur Utsav to begin from February 27, the District Administration today launched a cleaning drive to clear the garbage and make the city look cleaner for the visitor coming to witness the event.
Deputy Commissioner, D. Randeep who took the initiative, was seen carrying a broomstick and sweeping the streets. Accompanied by several people, elected representatives and members of NGOs, Mr. Randeep started the drive from the historic Gol Gumbaz.
The officials of City Municipal Corporation and Mayor, Sajjadepeer Mushrif who had also come, had brought tractors to collect the garbage and dumb at the landfill site.
During the drive, Mr. Randeep also met local people near Gol Gumbaz where people dumped garbage and dozens of pigs were feeding on it.
Mr. Randeep not only urged the people not to litter the city, he also directed the Corporation commissioner to make arrangements for collecting garbage from every house.
The women who interacted with Mr. Randeep said that in the absence of any garbage containers, they have no choice but to throw the garage on the roadside itself.
Later, the team continued the drive to clear the city. In the first phase, the road between Gol Gumbaz and Basaveshwara circle was cleaned. The drive would continue to clear all main roads of the city.
