Mysuru ideal location for IIT, says Pratap Simha

May 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - Mysuru:

Pratap Simha, MP, has said that it is appropriate to set up an IIT in Mysuru and that it would be a fitting tribute to late Devaraj Urs, whose 100th birthday will be celebrated this year. It would also be a special gift on the occasion of the centenary celebrations of the University of Mysore, he said.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Mr. Simha said he had appealed to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Revenue Minister V. Srinivas Prasad and other Ministers to put in efforts to set up IIT in Mysuru.

The MP also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave impetus to communication. In an attempt to provide uninterruptable BSNL network in Mysuru district, 202 mobile towers were being constructed, he said.

To a question, Mr. Simha said that the Prime Minster had never said he would convert Mysuru into Paris, but that he wanted to develop many tourist places, including Mysuru, comprehensively.

To another question, he said the government had stopped black money being deposited in banks in foreign countries.
