The State government has decided to pay wage arrears according to the fourth Pay Commission to Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ employees of Mysore Minerals Ltd. (MML).
Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs T.B. Jayachandra, who briefed presspersons on the Cabinet decisions here on Wednesday, said 728 Group ‘C’ and 3400 Group ‘D’ employees would get arrears for a seven-year period — April 1, 1998 to September 30, 2005. It would cost the State exchequer Rs. 11 crore. Group A and B employees would get arrears amounting to Rs. 2 crore. Employees against whom an inquiry was ordered following irregularities in the company would not get arrears, he said.
Under the tuition fee waiver scheme for admissions to technical courses in 2014–15, he said the government would reimburse the fee of students belonging to families whose annual income was less than Rs. 6 lakh. The income limit earlier was Rs. 2.5 lakh a year.
The Cabinet also decided to reimburse the tuition and laboratory fees of girl students who got admission to private aided degree colleges. The decision would cost the State exchequer Rs. 25 crore a year.
