The differences between the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) and the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) came to the fore on Wednesday with Mayor B.L. Bhyrappa charging the MUDA with negating MCC plans to develop Mysuru scientifically and systematically.
He alleged that the MCC wanted to develop the city creating sufficient space for parks and garbage disposal units in each locality but the MUDA had layouts without reserving space for sewage treatment plants (STPs).
Participating at a workshop under the banner ‘Role of citizens in maintaining cleanliness in Mysuru city’ here, Mr. Bhyrappa added that the MCC might have to struggle a lot in the coming years if the MUDA did not provide space for STPs.
He added that the attitude of MUDA despite letters from the MCC gave room for suspicion that it was intentionally not co-operating with the MCC.
Mr. Bhyrappa said that MUDA had given its consent for the formation of over 500 layouts.
He said that he would write to the government in this regard urging the issuance of directions to MUDA to reserve space for STPs, parks and other utilities in the new layouts it has formed or is going to form.
C.G. Betsurmath, commissioner of MCC, spoke on the occasion.
