MPs select two Hassan villages for SAGY

They have written to the Deputy Commissioner about their choices

November 22, 2014 12:39 pm | Updated 12:39 pm IST - Hassan:

Hassan Lok Sabha member H.D. Deve Gowda and Rajya Sabha member Kupendra Reddy, elected from the Janata Dal (Secular), have chosen a village each in Hassan taluk for comprehensive development under the Sansad Adarsha Gram Yojna (SAGY).

While Mr. Deve Gowda has chosen Channangihalli in Kattaya hobli, Mr. Kupendra Reddy has selected Kabballi in Dudda hobli. Channangihalli falls in the Alur-Sakleshpur Assembly constituency limits and is represented by H.K. Kumaraswamy, MLA from the Janata Dal (Secular). Kabballi is represented by H.D. Revanna, Holenarasipur MLA. Both have informed Hassan Deputy Commissioner V. Anbukkumar about their choice.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kupendra Reddy has never visited Kabballi. He said that he went by the suggestion of Mr. Revanna. “Mr. Revanna suggested the names of a few villages in Hassan for the scheme. I chose Kabballi because it has the highest population of 4,600 among the villages suggested by Mr. Revanna,” he said.

Mr. Kupendra Reddy said that although he had not visited the village so far, he had written to the Deputy Commissioner seeking details of works needed to be taken up for its comprehensive development. “I looked for some villages in Anekal taluk. They are all small villages with a population of a few hundreds,” he said.
