Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s reported direction to officials to explore the possibility of ensuring availability of quality liquor at an affordable price, has attracted the wrath of the Janata Dal (Secular).
‘Who are behind it?’
Criticising the reported move of the government, JD (S) State president H.D. Kumaraswamy on Monday sought to know the rationale behind the decision. “Which are the forces coercing the Chief Minister to take such drastic step?” he asked.
He sought to know the reason behind exploring possibility of “affordable liquor” immediately after assuming charge and before formation of Cabinet, that too, at a time when the State was reeling under drought and people was struggling for drinking water both in rural and urban areas.
Mr. Siddaramaiah had declared that he would not succumb to any lobby. Then who made him to “think” about providing cheap liquor then? Has anybody appealed? he asked.
Cabinet
Reacting to Mr. Siddaramaiah’s statement that his was a “clean Cabinet”, Mr. Kumaraswamy said: “What about others who got elected? Are they tainted?”
