Syed Yasin, Raichur MLA, has urged the government to rescind its order on transferring the administration of the Rajiv Gandhi Super-specialty Hospital (RGSH) to the Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), and has urged it to call for fresh global tenders to continue the administration of the RGSH on a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
In a statement here on Sunday, Mr. Yasin said that the OPEC-assisted RGSH had been set up mainly to provide free treatment to people belonging to BPL families. However, now BPL families would be adversely affected.
He alleged that the government took the decision in a hurry in order to improve facilities at RIMS. Last month, it released an order transferring the building, equipment and furniture at the RGSH to RIMS but it had not yet decided the fate of the specialists, doctors, staff and workers.
He said that the government was well aware that the term of the Apollo Hospital Group in managing the RGSH was ending in May. It should have thought about the future of the specialists and employees at the RGSH before taking any decision transferring administration of the hospital to RIMS. He said that he would meet Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, who is holds the Health portfolio, and urge him to rescind the Government Order and take action to call for fresh tenders to continue the administration of the RGSH on a PPP model.
