The State government will not deter from taking criminal action against those misusing wakf properties, said Minister for Primary and Secondary Education and Wakf Tanveer Sait here on Saturday.
Addressing a meeting of Mutavallis from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, he said the State government has started the process of documenting wakf properties. Proceeds from these properties should be used for the welfare of the community. The government will not spare anybody fiddling with these properties, he said.
Mr. Sait said those misusing and encroaching upon Wakf properties will be booked under Section 52(a) of the Wakf (Amendment) Act, 2013.
He said action will be taken against organisations who have failed to return loan taken from the Wakf Council for building hospitals, schools and commercial complex.
