Textile Minister Baburao Chinchansur has directed the Chief Executive Officer of Yadgir Zilla Panchayat P. Sunil Kumar to keep District Forest Officer K. Raju under suspension for his failure to attend the tri-monthly review meeting of the Karnataka Development Programme (KDP).

Presiding over the review meeting here on Thursday, Mr. Chinchansur took a serious exception to the absence of officials in important review meetings and warned that their negligent attitude would not be tolerated anymore. However, Mr. Sunil Kumar later told The Hindu that a show-cause notice would be issued to the District Forest Officer seeking an explanation for his absence before taking any further action.

The Minister said that officials attending the meeting should be armed with all the details pertaining to their department and review. He expressed his unhappiness over the way the officials from the Industries Department fumbled to provide the required information pertaining to land acquisition at Badiyal and Kadechur industrial areas.

The officials told the meeting that 3,232 acres of land has been acquired for the purpose in both the villages and compensation to the land losers in 2,321 acres have been paid so far and compensation due to the others in the remaining area would be paid at the earliest.

Mr. Chinchansur said that officials should ensure that all the funds released by the government for development work should be utilised properly and in a timely manner. He pointed out that more than Rs. 60 lakh of grants released to the Agriculture, Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Ltd., Panchayat Raj Engineering Division and others during 2014-15 remained unutilised and had lapsed.

He also said the officials of all departments to submit action plan for 2015-16 with detailed reports to the Deputy Commissioner at the earliest and send him a copy simultaneously. Stringent action would be taken against those who failed to follow the instructions.
