Life in the city and Mysuru region is expected to be disrupted on Saturday in view of the Karnataka Bandh called by the Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha president Vatal Nagaraj in association with several other Kannada organisations in support of the Mekedatu dam project.

The bandh has been called to protest the alleged interference of Tamil Nadu on the construction of the Mekedatu reservoir across the Cauvery in Ramanagaram district.

The farmers in the region have expressed support for the bandh. “The government should immediately take up the construction of the work as the State has the right to utilise its share of water after meeting the obligations of Tamil Nadu. It pertains to drinking water requirements of the people and they should voluntarily support the bandh,” said Kurubur Shanthakumar of the association.
